Introduction
As a long-term traveler and remote working (digital nomad), I spend a lot of time on the road and on my laptop and my phone.
When I am moving around for work or for pleasure, there are things I just can’t live without: phone, laptop, and my passport.
The reason why is obvious: all of our information is stored on that little digital device, or in the cloud, secured safely on a server located in a desert somewhere on this planet.
If I accidentally lose my phone or my laptop, all the information can be retrieved from the cloud.
And there are some tools on my mobile device of mine to help with this kind of accidental event.
That’s why I’ve decided to share with you five apps that have given me so much more ease in my day-to-day life.
App #1: 1Password
1Password is a password manager that keeps all your passwords in one place.
It can be used on multiple devices, so you don’t have to worry about remembering them all.
It also has an auto-fill feature that will help you log in to websites with just one click. This is especially helpful if you use the same email address and password combination for every account; 1Password will automatically enter this information for each site as soon as they’re loaded on your browser or mobile device.
Another feature I love is how easy it makes generating strong passwords–and even random ones!
For example: If I want my new password to include capital letters, lowercase letters and numbers (but not symbols), then all I need do is select those options from dropdown menus within the app’s interface when setting up my new account info.

App #2: Copy.ai
Copy.ai is an AI writing tool that helps you create blog posts, ebooks and more. It’s like a wizard: you just answer some questions and it creates an entire document for you!
The app uses natural language processing to understand what type of content you need to create and then builds out the structure based on what it learns from previous work done by other users in the same niche.
You can use Copy.ai to generate:
- Cold email copies that converts
- Meta Description
- Keywords for any topic
- Turning Bullet Points to Paragraph
- Blog posts
- Love Letter (!)

App #3: Notion
Notion is an app that lets you create, organize and share content in one place. You can use it for anything from writing your novel to planning a party to keeping track of your blog posts.
I love Notion because it’s so flexible–you can use it however you want! For example, if I have an idea for a blog post but am not sure how to start, I’ll open up Notion and type out my thoughts there instead of trying to write them down on paper first (which never works). Once I have all my ideas down in order, then I’m ready to move onto the next step: actually writing the article itself!
Another great thing about Notion is that if someone else needs access or wants help editing something within one of our projects (like this guide), then they can just click on any piece of content within that project themselves without having any knowledge about what kind of software was used in creating said piece(s) beforehand.”

App #4: Astrill VPN
Astrill VPN is a VPN that allows you to access blocked websites and apps. In China, there are many websites that are blocked by the government such as Google and Facebook. AstrillVPN will allow you to bypass these restrictions and browse the web freely.
The best part about AstrillVPN is that it’s easy to use!
You just download it on your phone or computer, enter your username/password and press connect! That’s all there is to it!
In China, VPNs are not only necessary but also very hard to find. AstrilVPN is an excellent choice; it’s cheap, fast and has servers all over the world.
AstrillVPN will allow you to unblock websites like Facebook and YouTube while in China.
It also provides military-grade encryption which means your data will be secure from hackers when using public WiFi hotspots or accessing any other open networks such as coffee shops or libraries
App #5: Google Calendar
Google Calendar is a great way to keep track of your schedule. You can add events, share your calendar with others and edit events on the go.
It comes super useful when I am traveling across different timezone. I can set up flight time with departure time and landing time in two different time zone. So I know exactly when I can schedule my meetings on that day of flying.
I use Google Calendar to schedule my personal errands and the time I would like to spend on each project and personal development activities as well.
It’s much easier to place it on the calendar and I can know very well visually what’s on the list today and when I was supposed to get it done.
Since I am working on different projects with various stakeholders, meetings often happen in various timezone. Google Calendar helps with organizing and reschedule events and meeting times across multiple recipients.
One thing I love most about Google Calendar is its ability to remind me when something important happens–like when my friends are going out for drinks later tonight!
